Valentine’s Day In The Office

This is one of our favorite occasions of the year, not only do we get to visit so many clients but we literally deliver love to your door.  Our therapists spend the day going from desk to desk surprising people with our amazing massages and arriving at a home to be someones Valentine’s present, what a gift!

While massages are absolutely enjoyable there are tremendous health benefits to having regular massages.  These benefits vary with the duration of your massage.  You may be having remedial massage to treat a particular concern or enjoying a massage as a treat to relax or indulge someone special.

When we look at our 6 Minute Moment Massage being the most popular office treat. Our therapists set up beautiful decor on your desk, perform our signature massage and give you a delicious box of fudge and for Valentine’s day this fudge is chocolate coated for your enjoyment.  This massage is designed to stimulate three main brain chemicals and they are:

Oxytocin

This hormone naturally enhances a sense of trust, optimism, mastery and boosts self esteem.  This is your love chemical and gives you a sense of falling in love, it plays a very important role in the body in a variety of important situations. When you have a small boost of oxytocin from a massage or a hug you feel a sense of calm and trust helping you to form bonds.

Dopamine

This neurotransmitter helps to control the brains reward and pleasure centers. Dopamine regulates movement and emotional responses helping us to take action and move towards rewards. This is the hormone that boosts motivation.

Serotonin

Fun fact, more serotonin is produced in the gut than in the brain.  Serotonin is stimulated when someone does or says something good to us.  This hormone is responsible for your mood and happiness, when serotonin levels are stable we have a sense of well-being.

These affects are seen when teams have a short massage, however a longer massage that involves getting undressed and having the whole body stimulated has various other benefits, such as;

  • Increased circulation – helps get blood flow with manual stimulation.
  • Lymphatic drainage – boosts immune system and assists in detox.
  • Skin benefits – skin is moisturized and stimulated with circulation.
  • Stress relief – the body and mind are relaxed and cortisol levels are reduced.
  • Anti-depressant – Serotonin, Dopamine and Oxytocin assist in boosting the mood.

No matter how you choose to celebrate, we wish you a very happy Valentine’s day filled with love and laughter.
